Justice for Animals Week
In honor of National Justice for Animals Week, February 26 – March 4, 2017 and the recent loss of legendary animal rights philosopher Tom Regan, here are six things you can do to help support animal justice:
- On February 3rd, 2017, the USDA shut down the animal welfare database, which made animal welfare statistics available to the public. Contact your members of Congress, demanding the USDA preserves transparency by restoring the animal welfare database! You can also take action and learn more from the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), Humane Society of the United States, Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
- Deepen your understanding – read Tom Regan‘s thoughtful work. Check out his classic book The Case for Animal Rights; Animal Rights, Human Wrongs; Defending Animal Rights.
- Get involved with other ALDF Justice for Animals Week actions.
- Learn about state and local animal protection laws where you live with the (ALDF) resource for the USA & Canada.
- Paws for the Cause and support front line advocacy and rescue organizations working tirelessly all year long to support animals.
- Go Veg – even one day a week makes a difference.
