Paws for the Cause: International Respect for Chickens Day

Apr 22, 2016 | Animal Advocacy, Paws for the Cause |

“Compassion is an action word with no boundaries” ~ Prince

Eight days left in April with United Poultry Concerns as CLAWtheory’s featured organization, but the advocacy continues all year.  This May 4, plan to do something for International Respect for Chicken Day.  Launched by UPC more than 10 years ago, International Respect for Chickens Day is about action.

UPC offers ideas for honoring the day with a range of activities like creating educational library displays, leafletting, writing a letter to the editor, writing an informational blog, or talking to friends and family.  Promoting an understanding of the social lives and emotional sensitivity of these birds is at the heart of the day.   Anything that cultivates compassionate understanding can make a real difference, so there is plenty of room for creative actions that fit your availability.

Maybe a “Fork Off” or “Rescue One – Eat None” sticker would be a conversation starter, too!  Order during April, so 10% of purchases will benefit the birds at UPC!
